PLAY THERAPY
Neurologically, children’s brains are constantly growing and developing, however, they are not matured enough to participate in talk-therapy alone. Play Therapy is an effective, research-based modality of child therapy that allows children to express their thoughts, feelings and behaviors through developmentally appropriate forms of communication - play. Play is a child's natural form of self-expression. Play therapy can help support children by holistically addressing each component of cognitive, social, and emotional development.
As a Registered Play Therapist™, Brittany has specialized training, skills and knowledge to conduct therapeutic play therapy sessions in which children are able to process their experiences through play. Play therapy sessions are held in-person in a clinically established playroom setting.
Parents and care-givers are key stakeholders in the therapeutic process of play therapy. Prior to and following play therapy sessions with your child, Brittany will meet with parents and care-givers to discuss presenting concerns, track goals for therapy, and monitor on-going progress.
